The Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Memovox โ50th Anniversaryโ (Ref. Q9038670) commemorates the half-century of the iconic 1968 Polaris Alarm, bringing together vintage-inspired design with modern performance. In a 42 mm stainless-steel case, this limited edition (1,000 pcs) watch features a layered black dial with three distinct texturesโsunburst in the center, grained outer ring, and opaline rehautโwhich gives it depth and character. The bold Arabic numerals at 12, 6, and 9, alongside batons, are filled with luminescent material, and the hands are sand-toned and lumed, evoking a classic diverโs aesthetic.
One of its defining features is the mechanical alarm complication: a rotating inner dial (set via the top crown) and an arrow-tipped disc mark the alarm time, while a central hammer strikes when the alarm sounds. Thereโs also a date window at 3 oโclock. Inside, the automatic Caliber 956 powers both timekeeping and the alarm, offering around 45 hours of power reserve. The watch is water-resistant to 200 m and comes with a sporty black rubber strap with a stainless-steel deployant clasp. The solid caseback is engraved with a vintage diver helmet and the limited edition number, making the watch a true collectorโs piece. The alarm function is set by rotating the inner disc, and when triggered, the hammer inside produces a characteristic ringing sound โ a nod to vintage Memovox models. This watch is well regarded among collectors for its combination of heritage design and modern build quality, particularly because the alarm complication is relatively rare in modern diver-style watches.
