Bvlgari introduced the Serpenti watch in 1948 as a bracelet-watch that featured a spiraling, flexible bracelet. The first models used the Tubogas technique, inspired by industrial gas pipes, to create a flexible coil of gold around a concealed watch dial.
Original design: The initial 1948 release was a bracelet-watch with a geometric dial set within a stylized serpent’s head.
Evolution: Over the following decades, the design evolved to become more realistic, with jeweled eyes and articulated scales, often taking on the form of a “secret watch” with the dial hidden in the serpent’s mouth.
